Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - Novara Corsa

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

It would be interesting to learn a little about the history of my around-town garage sale bike.
The bike is a Novara Corsa, but it is not the bike that turns up in a Google search by that name. Today's version is a hybrid with a slanting top tube. Apparently that model has been made since the early 1990's.
Mine is a road or touring bike. The top tube is horizontal, it has two bottle cage braze-ons and cantilever brakes and eyelets for fenders and racks. The frame is double-butted steel tubing.
As is - and I don't know how much of the bike is original - it has a seven speed rear cluster and a triple front.
Do any of you cycle historians know anything about this bike? This is being asked purely out of curiosity as I have no plans to sell it.
Thanks for the information.

Does yours have flat or drop bars?
I have a Novara Corsa too. I think mine's a touring bike - or at least that's what the seller told me. It's a triple with 5 speed at the back, Shimano Light Action RD, Tange Infinity tubing.

Drop bars.
Mine are drop too.
Mad Mabel, check out this link for details of 1993 - 97 modesl http://www.bikepedia.com/Search.aspx?Q=novara+corsa. The specs are different from mine, but there are some 7 speeds at the older end of the spectrum

Sorry for dragging up old posts, but I'm in a similar situation. I found this while searching for information on my old Novara Corsa.
Here's what I know.
Purchased around 1989 by me from REI in Seattle. Everything on mine is stock except for the wheelset. I switched it out for 700c rims, came with 26". Mine has a drop bar and downtube shifters. Shimano Exage 300 drivetrain. The front is a triple and has oval chainrings (50-44-28). I've got a 7 speed cassette in the rear (13/15/17/20/23/26/30). I also have braze ons for two water bottles, fenders, and racks. This was definitely meant to be a light tourer at least.
I'd love to find a link to some frame geometry. I have no idea what size mine is, but it fits me at 5'10". This bike has been real good to me. It has somewhere around 3000 miles on it and it keeps trucking along.

I'm glad that you posted. The thread may be dead but I am not.
Mine also has the oval chainrings. This is something that I haven't seen before so when I first looked down and noticed the eccentricity thought at first that they were defective. But all three chainrings are flat killing that theory.
I've installed a different handlebar and switched to bar end shifters.
Over the winter I am hoping to grease all the bearings, replace the chain and cables and do whatever else seems wise then use it for some touring next year.
