This may not surprise you guys/gals in the PAC NW, but in NYC that's the first one I've seen in 15 years other than mine, which I also happened to be riding at the time. He was as surprised as I was. I was coming from R&A cycles where I had bought a front derailleur cable to replace the one that snapped on the ride after 28 years on the bike.
His looked to be possibly repainted as it didn't have a downtube decal, although it had the signature on the top tube. Why that caught my eye I don't know but that's what I recognized, plus the stamped seat stays.
