Classic and Vintage Bicycles: What's it Worth? Appraisals and Inquiries - I found this for sale, anyone know anything about it?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I wanna buy it but is it old or is it just a remake look alike? it would go good with my collection lol

Yeah, it kinda looks new, the ad says it's antique though
I find sellers are almost always clueless on what they have. I just bought a bike last night that the seller was 100% positive had an aluminum frame. I just nodded my head, put a magnet to it to verify it was steel.
He was really shocked.
Typical Craigs List behavior. Some sellers are being deceitful, but most are just honestly clueless.
It's a good thing and a bad thing, good because theres some very nice prices and bad because they over charge, like on this, what would you pay for this ride?
If I was looking for a retro style beach cruiser, I might give him $50 for it, assuming it is in ready to ride condition.
They want 500$ lol aparently it was bought at an auction
What do you think this is worth? they dropped price to 400$ and still think it's antique.
I found one on ebay it's also old but these two look the same, ya sure it's a fake? just wanna know, these are rare to come by where I live, and if theres one for sale people skyrocket the price on it.

How do you guys know its a reproduction? I'm seeing patina on the hubs and springer assembly and other parts.
I think its the real deal and I also think I'd never pay anything near $400....or $300....or $200.

The "patina" is from the 15 years since it was built. It's a repop.
God enough for me then, i'll also let the seller know that it's a fake lol
The owner says it's antique, it has conti tires on it and they are all cracked, I asked them for close up pictures of some of the parts.

If it was rebuilt 15 years ago how old was it when was rebuilt?

OP asked for an "opinion" based on one picture. To me, it looks like a fake. An accurate assessment (at least by me) would require looking at it in person, and inspecting it closely. Given the limitations of making such an assessment by a posting in a forum, I am going with fake.
+1 Even if it were real, it is not worth the asking price.
To the OP, if you really want it, then just make the seller an offer. It doesn't matter what others think. If it is what you want, go for it!

I said built not re-built. It was built in China or Taiwan in the late 80's or early 90's. Any "patina" you see is from the years since then.
There's no doubt this is a reproduction Columbia. I've seen the same model in the same color countless times in stupid "50's dinners" and in the collections of hot-rod and custom car collectors.
Well i'm proberly going to see it in person anyway because they say they have an old BSA paratroopers bicycle from world war 2 so I wouldn't mind seeing it.

I've seen similar bike at car shows as well, so as you, I have my supisions.
Definately a repop.I saw these in the early 80's a a big bike show selling brand new for 600$.Look at the headlight.the first clue.Closer look will tell you more. There were other models there that were repops. It could be considered an antique because it is about 25 yrs old.I have seen these for around $300.Thats not a bad price because they are nice looking bikes and meant for fun if you can handle the balloon tires.
