Hey there! I'm new to this forum and I came to get some MTB recommendations if at all possible. I was looking to go used and I have a budget of about 400 dollars. I was looking at Trek 6500s but I'm just curious what other brands are out there. I currently ride some Diamondback hardtail bike made in the 80s and I'm feeling like its time to upgrade! I appreciate any input and suggestions. Thanks!

too many brands to really go into. Just hit up craigslist or whatever and see what shows up and post back.

Well I found a 2007 specialized rockhopper for 375, which is definitely within my price range(and the frame size should fit me too! :D)

I should clarify though, I'm pretty set on the Trek 6500(if i can find one used :notamused:) but I'm willing to try out a competitor's product as well. So, I'm willing to take general suggestions on a bike. Should also mention that I'd love the ability to upgrade to disc brakes later. Thanks!

Well i ended up buying the rockhopper and its a great bike! I gotta say that it rides pretty awesome. I'm a tad disappointed with the FD and RD used on it though but that can be easily fixed :D Thanks for the input!
