I'm going for a budget build and I'm deciding between mavic aksium, or easton wheels (either ea70 or ea90 SL). I know the mavic's are bombproof. I'm considering the eastons because of the helmet rebate they have going on. Are the eastons suited more towards road riding than cross?

Reputation-wise, it seems like it. They're reputed to be as or more expensive and less durable than the Aksiums or comparable Ksryiums.
Have you asked Easton about it? Their customer service is pretty responsive.
Personally, if I wanted the more durable Eastons I would go for the EA70's as they have deeper rims.

I've heard that the Easton hubs are not as durable in the mud, can anyone confirm this?
