I have had these brakes for nearly a year now and I have been very satisfied with them. Lately though I have been annoyed with the amount of adjusting they need. I like my levers to be really responsive so that they brake with just a little pessure put on them. I do not like the levers to hit the grip. Anyway lately every three or four rides the brakes loosen up. So I used to just spin the little red adjuster knobs and they would tighten up no problem. Now they do not seem to work as well.
I took my bike to the shop and the guy there told me that the squeking noise I heard was because the rotor was slightly warped from the heat generated by constant pressure put on the rear brakes. This makes sense and leads to my next issue. I then asked what the proper technique was on a long downhill and he told me to pump the brakes rapidly. That way the cable won't stretch as much and there won't be as much heat generated.
I ride a lot of hills and some singletrack. The road up to the trails is a fairly long windy road and coming down I do use the brakes quite a bit. I had them check the pads and they said they were okay. So anyway any advice on how to better maintain/take care of these brakes would be welcome.
