I am buying my first tri specific bike and I am trying to decide between an '09 K-Factor SL and a '07 Talon SL. The builds are as follows:
K-Factor
Ultegra SL with RS10 Wheelset
Talon SL
Front Derailleur Shimano Ultegra SL 6600G, Braze-on
Rear Derailleur Shimano Ultegra SL 6600G
Shifters Shimano DuraAce, SL-BS78 20-speed
Cassette/Freewheel Shimano Ultegra SL, 10-speed, 12-23T
Chain Shimano Ultegra 6600, 10-Speed
Rims Mavic Aksium, Black w/ CNC sidewalls
Tires Continental ULTRASport, 700x23c with Ultralite presta tubes
They are both right at the same price of $1900. Any thoughts or recommendations?
Thanks.

Aloha-
I have a 08' Kestrel Talon, love it! The Kestrel geometry is a more road-angeled, starting at 74 degrees but I have mine cranked max foreward on the seat post mount to about 78+. The Kota is a slightly more dedicated tri-geometry at 76 degrees+. Not much difference but purists will heckle. They are quite similar. The Kestrel design is much older and up for redesign next year. My ONLY complaint with the Kestrel is as I tweek my fit and the center of gravity moves foreward the rear wheel can get loose on downhills (squeeze those knees) and the stearing geometry is a little skittish. (Oh and the stock Continentals are crap in the wet) Otherwise go Kestrel!
I have an 07 K-Factor that I absolutely love (bought after watching Stadler ride a 4:18 on a Kuota in 06 Kona). I bought it when I started doing triathlons, and have upgraded it over time and I still find it comfortable, even on rides approaching 100 miles. I've ridden it in sprint tris, a half IM, and I'll ride it in IM Florida in November.
They are both fantastic bikes; if you want my advice, ride them both and base your decision on which rides better, especially if the cost is the same.
Good luck!

I'm at 76° with my tri bike and am satisfied, but can't imagine being happy at 73° with the Talon. It's the only tri bike out there that's so shallow. My next bike purchase will be something in the range of 78°. That way I'll be able to adjust to my liking. The Talon is basically a road bike with aerobars. I'd stay away from it. Eventually BD is going to come out with a tri bike with steep geometry.

What's the angle on that BD Nemesis bike?
