I saw 80 degrees a couple times in the forecast - who going swimming this coming weekend?

According to the Weather Channel it's forecasted to be 87* here on Sunday. Not that I trust those guys, but I'm not ready for that yet.

Unless the water temperature is the same 80 degrees it won't be me. I'll be at work anyway over your weekend, though I plan on riding the cooler Thursday and Friday.

Hey, stop teasing! Where (geographically) ARE you people with the 80 degree forecasts?

They are all dreaming. It might get in the 80's in the heat island areas, but out where everything is NOT paved it will be in the low 70's if we are lucky. Go within a mile of the coast and it will be 10 degrees colder than that.

They're calling for a high of 85 in Harrisburg, PA for the weekend!

As far as I'm concerned, anything over 75 is torture.

I'll be doing morning rides in central park - 9am - noon, then laying out for some sun in the park since any time after 12 in central park is madness to cycle in. I'd steer clear of the west side unless you are on a tricycle.

I'm doing a surf & turf on Saturday. First you surf, then you ride. Waters getting warm, mid forties. And there might be a small swell.

Doing the same except starting and leaving an hour earlier. The guy crying up the hill will be me. Remember to hand me a handkerchief as you pass by.

Hour earlier in central park you mean? harlem hill has been getting easier for me to climb, I'll spray you with my water bottle as we hammer the harlem hill climb.
I might head to riverside and ride that all the way up to the bridge. I fear this weekend the park will be jammed packed and westside highway won't be any less crowded, especially with all those "intrepid" gawkers.

Yup. If CP gets too crowded I may end up heading back to brooklyn to do laps at Prospect Park which is marginally less congested.

You guys are dedicated. I could not ride laps around a park for very long without going bonkers.
I am going with the A group to Port Jefferson and back on Saturday. Killer hills, little towns, light traffic. Just 64 miles of hammer time with 10 to 15 really nice guys. If we could just fine a couple of women that can average 19 mph... Makes the pace line so much better.

Oh, OK. NOW I see....76 on Saturday and 79 on Sunday here in Syosset, Long Island. It's been winter for so long that I just assumed the 40s and 50s were going to continue all year. Thanks for the heads-up, all. The bike will surely be out this weekend!

Unfortunately it's mostly out of time constraints for me. I usually have to make it back to my apt before noon so can't go too far out.
Why not mix both beach and cycling by riding your bike in NYC in a bikini! :D
I'm game! Who's with me? :thumb:
Seriously, I would bike NYC in a bikini if I didn't need more "support".

Where are you doing that? Personally I'd like the other way around so the salt and sand doesn't hitch a ride...
I'm up for something Sunday night - will be riding the preride for the 5 Boro tour in the morning till mid afternoon but have a feeling it'll be one of those days I won't want to stop!

can't wait for the weekend!
This weather is awesome:)

+1
But I'd say anything 80 degrees or more is complete torture. And if it's coupled with high humidity it can be a real killer.

Just go faster, more wind to cool you down. ;)

Ha ha! I'll just wind up even more sweaty and exhausted by the time I reach my destination, lol. ;)
I'm a really cranky woman if I'm really hot or need food. If you combine both, you might want to back away from me, slowly, for your own safety.
