Southern California - Yay for Today!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Please no more 100 degree weather for awhile...
Thanks!

Just got back from a ride now just in case it gets hot. It has been terrible.

I can handle the heat better than the dryness. Having to constantly drink water and apply chapstick while riding is a pain.
The people getting snow and hail think we're weenies for whining about the weather here.

Me too. Was nice to actually be cold for the first five minutes of my morning ride.
The humidity is going to be 77%, so it'll be muggy the next few days.
Totally agree...I'm sunburned from three days straight at the pool with the little people and I'm happy to throw on a long sleeve to ride this morning. My poor skin!

The warm weather is great for night rides.. Rode last night at 11pm and was still in the high 60's..Plus no cars on the road late at night.. I rode 30 miles and was passed by less than 10 cars for the whole ride..

I'll be the contrarian and say I was kinda digging the hot weather. 90's are OK with me.
Highs on Friday and Saturday are forecast to be in the low 60's. That's winter all over again!

I'm OK with 90's but over that and I don't feel like riding much...
Don't we get Spring this year?

No yay for me today...broke 2 spokes...lol. Darn Expo light rail construction. But then again I was riding my 60's era 3-speed bike today. Suppose I should re-spoke/build the wheels. Other than that, it was pretty muggy today.

Looks like I'll have to break out the leg warmers again. There's even a small chance of rain on Saturday, just enough to mess up the car after getting it washed. :(
Last 2 days, including today, have been good, cool riding weather. Seems like no matter which direction I'm riding, the wind is always in my face...lol.

Today looks pretty good...
As soon as I finish a couple of chores I'm out the door!

On those scorching hot days, the only way I can handle pedaling is first thing in the morning at sun up.

if it's too hot for you, you're not going fast enough to factor in the wind chill ;)

That's pretty much my summer routine up where I live. I get Woodland Hills/Calabasas heat. Might as well be living in Death Valley.
It's either ride in the morning before 8am, or head to the coast in the late afternoon and enjoy PCH or the beach path.
