Touring - Another shoe thread, but leather this time.

I've worn away a lot of the tread on my old Shimano SH-038's and it's time for some new shoes

The sneaker style SPD shoes work well for touring as they are ok on the bike, walkable, and don't scream cyclist when you're walking around town or doing tourist stuff. They don't perform that well in the rain, it's more like wearing a sponge if you don't cover them up, but they are comfortable and have served me well.

The one thing I really don't like about the new sneaker MTB shoes I'm looking at is they look quite clunky. The best I've seen are the SH-MT31s

Does anyone have any experience with them?

I'm also looking at a couple more options that are a bit more streamlined. The M086 look like a nice compromise and a bit better for on the bike than the sneaker style

and finally the 2 new shoes from Exustar which are both leather. The Stelvio is a bit chunkier than the Commuter, but they push my nostalgia buttons and I may just pre order a pair of the "commuters"


These are the new commuters, The sole doesn't have much in the way of tread, it looks like flat rubber, so they might wear quickly and I bet there's some cleat click, but they do look good!

I wear these, the mesh uppers drain great I am virtually guaranteed dry shoes after 8 hrs w/ the insole removed:

I am curious about the 5.10 shoes which look pretty shoe-y (no cleats though), can check them out at http://www.fiveten.com

Personally I like Sidi's lower end MTB shoes (Bullet 2's). They are made of synthetic materials (Lorica) and have plenty of mesh and feel dry as soon as you change socks. Leather shoes seem to feel wet forever.

Yeah I use the cheapest Shimano shoe out there. I got them a half size bigger. So far so good.
