Road Cycling - Meaningless and Stupid Question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I saw a photo yesterday of a bunch of pros and it dawned on me....
Do you wear your helmet strap over or under your glasses? Any reason why?
Told you it was stupid.

I put my glasses on before I put on my helmet, so the helmet straps go over the glasses.
Of course, I put on my glasses before I get out of bed too. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to find my bathroom.

Glasses go on then the helmet, otherwise when you take off your helmet, chances are your glasses go flying.
Under. Helmet first, then glasses.
Not to hijack, but what do people here recommend to stop sweat dripping down inside the glasses? My lenses get all messed up when that happens.

Mac--I have a coolmax skullcap that does a lovely job of keeping the sweat out of my eyes.

Doesn't your head get very hot, or does the fabric allow a nice breeze in through the vents?

Under. Normally already have them anyway, but I can't imagine feeling comfortable with the arms pressing the straps against my head. Also means I can take the helmet off when stopped and not have the glass go flying.

I use wicking headwraps too. My head is far cooler with them without. I keep my head pretty closely shaved, and there ain't that much left on the top, so any sweat I do produce on my head runs straight off the sides if I don't wear one!

Under. And the Cool Max skull cap is the only way to fly for sweat control. Actually once it gets a wet it works in conjunction with evaporation to cool you.

My melon does get hot, but I too have little hair on my dome, so the sweat runs every which way. I bought an expensive helmet with HUGE vents and that took care of a lot of my heat issues. The cap also protects me from getting an unusual tan on my head from the vents!

Glasses over the straps. Easier to take them off and wipe the lenses and your brow that way.

My method is helmet, then glasses. (Glasses over straps)

Helmet straps over the glasses.
The skull caps do work well for sweat control. And sunburn through the vents for my balding head.

Glasses over Straps... for one, it helps keep the straps from flappin' all around, and 2, Style Man says it's cool, cause the pros do it this way :D

I wear my helmet straps over the glasses so I can get the helmet off fast w/o having to take off the glasses off - I'm a triathlete.
Well... I used to wear the glasses over the straps, until I was in a training race and an angry bee flew into my helmet vent. I managed to remove myself from the group and quickly removed my helmet, which sent my glasses flying. I put my helmet back on, rejoined the race and after the race I picked up my badly scratched NEW Rudy Project glasses. I did take advantage of the Rudy's very generous lense replacement policy and I now wear my glasses under my straps.

Over- seeing I don't yet have a cool Cool Max skullcap, I need to wipe my face from sweat on occasion, and so over-strap-glasses make it far easier
I first put on a Halo Headband (http://www.haloheadband.com/products.html), which has a rubber strip to vent sweat away from your eyes, then slip the glasses underneath, and finally the helmet.
As an added benefit the headband frimly keeps my glasses in place. I've only had the Halo a few weeks, but so far no sweat in my eyes.
Does it say something about all of us that the "meaningless and stupid question" now has twenty replies?
Just wondering....

Not really a stupid question but it has been asked before (http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=29793). :)
FWIW, I still wear my sunglasses under my helmet straps as that's just the way things work out in order of donning things. I have tried it the other way around and it felt "unnatural" to me. I wear sunglasses that have straight/semi-straight temples and even when I try to slip them over the straps, I have to make a conscious effort to get them to do so as I run my temples fairly tight to keep the glasses from slipping and they will try and get themselves under the straps naturally. My normal prescription glasses also have straight temples. Actually they're flight sunglasses fitted with clear lenses (also have prescription sunglass lens in another frame of the same type) and they were designed with straight temples so that pilots could easily put on and take off their sunglasses easily while wearing headsets and/or helmets without having to remove the latter.

Under, definitely under...yes, yes...definitely
As far as headwear goes, skull caps are a must for me...I like either Sugoi or Under Armour myself. I just picked up a Performance brand one with my order I just place (gotta luv that 20% discount) so I'll see how that works out.
Under. Being outside without sunglasses on during the day just plain hurts my eyesso they're on before I even think about grabbing my helmet.
