Hi guys, I'm trying to find a nice attractive route from Cambridge/Boston area to Windsor Locks/ Hartford area, any ideas? My wife and I are trying to connect to the ACA atlantic coast route to ride down to D.C for the final leg of our first tour!

I've lent out my map, but isn't that route on the Bar Harbor to Windsor Locks ACA Atlantic coast route map? Are you looking for another route?

The map takes a route that goes pretty well west of Boston, the spur that goes into Boston is from the Northwest, riding SE into Boston. We're trying to go southwest out of Boston and we don't really know much about the greater Boston area so that's what were trying to figure out. Thanks!

best option I thinks....is to take Minuteman rail trail from alewife to Bedford ma, then shoot from
Bedford Ma to Concord, and then from Concord Ma to Sudbury then Framingham 126 south towards
Bellington, towards Providence RI, then from there find a way to Hartford.

draw a line on a map and use the side roads between concord and framingham

it is only 50 miles to Concord to Providence, add 15 from alewife

this takes you out of most of the traffic mess between Boston and RI anyway....

anyhow southwest ain't so magic out of boston, west then south is the best methinks

take 101 and 44 to windsor locks headed west again from providence. not the most
direct route but scenic

A suggestion would be to take the commuter train to Worcester (off peak), down Main to Stafford rd to RT 20 West to Springfield. Campgrounds / motels along Rt. 20 When you get to Springfield I could meet you and get you to back roads to Windsor Locks. I'm not fat from t Windsor Locks and there is a bike path you could also use in Suffield. You could camp in my yard. Contact me off list. Get the Rubels Bike maps for MA.

You could use the cue sheets available from East Coast Greenway to get from Providence to Windsor Locks.
