So this is my first year of serious cycling. I mountain bike, but can't help loving high speeds.

So I bought this reconditionned old bike for $60 to travel around school, when I realized that it doesn't suck for road cycling. It's a Pugeot (aparently, everyone has heard of this but me). Steel frame, old wheels, but everything is tuned up. I took off the kickstand and accesories, threw on my toe clips (the cleats to my spare clipless are broken), and am riding it 15k a day. Will this suffice for 2 hour rides? Is it a good way to go about having a road bike for cheap? Anything else I should do to it?

Ride what ya got. A Peugeot will do quite nicely. Make sure that the tires and breaks are in good condition. Find out what components are on the bike. You can find out a lot here about maintenance and adjustments.

Cool. You can replace a few things as the mood moves you.
I'd start with the seat.

Should do fine. I ride a 1978 Raleigh Grand Prix at the moment. I'd love to upgrade to a newer bike. In fact I've been looking. Just hard to part with the cash right now. :D
