Commuting - bragging

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Yeah! I did it!
First time commuting in 19 weeks. I got hit by a Ford Explorer 19 weeks ago (see my intro for details), which put a temporary stop to biking to work, but I'm back. 7.5 miles in about 33 minutes, nothing to write home about, but better than I thought I would do.
And congratulations to the others who also had commuting milestones today. I see that a few others chose the first day of February as a day to do something big.

Great to hear you're back amongst the sane ;)

Very best wishes for staying healthy and happy on your two wheels--and no more chance encounters with Ford Deplorables!
Viva!

It's an SUV (Suburban Useless Vehicle). I believe it's Ford's second largest behemoth in terms of gross tonnage after the 'Expedition' (to the corner store).

Sadly, it is their THIRD largest SUV, after the previously mentioned Expedition, and the mother of all SUVs, the Excursion.

Note the N/A next to miles-per-gallon.
Sigh, I never in my wildest dreams imagined I would one day say, "Well, at least it was just an Explorer that hit me."
Sport-Utility Vehicle my arse. I see nothing sporty about them, and unless you have an obese family of seven I fail to see how much utility they have. Don't get me wrong, I know people who need big trucks. Fine, they can have them. But a family of 4 living in town doesn't need one. Damned gas prices. Onward and upward, I say.

Congrats on your ride in Andy.
As someone said, getting on the bike is the toughest part, and after an experience like you had and subsequent layoff it must be even harder, but you DID IT!

Couldn't agree more. I'm sorry I asked about the Ford Explorer now.

S.U.V. - Shows Unnecessary Vulgarity ?
Glad you're back with us Andy.
Keep your eyes open for those "behemoths". I guess the drivers are up so high they can't see a lowly cyclist. :(
