Commuting - Dahon Mu Uno

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So apparently you can't take a full size bike during rushour on the NJtransit. I <3 my bike (black dawes sst), but I'm affraid I'm going to have to give it up when I move to NJ! But wait there is hope! I was looking for a folder and came across this. This might just fit the bill! Dahon Mu Uno (http://www.dahon.com/us/muuno.htm)
I really really hope someone at NJ transit sees the trend in bike commuters and decides to make a car for cyclist. It will probably never happen but a guy can dream can't he?

I see folks on the NJ transit with folding bikes, so you won't be the first. Also, my line does have cars with spaces for full size bikes during off-peak times. I've used them. It's the same as the space for wheelchairs. There's a rail you strap your bike to, and there's a lousy little seat next to it to sit on. I'm on the Morris and Essex line. What line will you live on?

Hey Tom,
I'm looking in Colonia, so it would be the NEC. While I don't want to have to buy a new bike for my commute, it sure beats buying a new car, even if it's used!
BTW, we had looked in Bloomfield, Cranford and Westfield. We're going to Colonia/Woodbridge this weekend. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Good luck. And welcome to Noo Joizy. I grew up on the upper west side and then had an apartment in Washington Heights. I've been in NJ since 1987.

Ha! Thanks. My Father in law was cracking Joizy jokes. Now that's exactly how my 3 year old says it.

It takes a long time to answer "New Jersey" when people ask where you're from.
It took my father a very long time to get over the fact that I live here and also over the fact that my kids were born here.
But life is good. Choose your town carefully. I ended up in Edison, which I ended up disliking. I adore Maplewood!

Yeah, it seems to be the hardest part. Finding a hood we really like AND that we can afford.
