Professional Cycling - Bobke was wearing Lance's "LIVESTRONG" wrist band!

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Anyone else notice the yellow "LIVESTRONG" wrist band on Bob Rolls wrist during the "Road to the Tour" show? Though it was kind of cool of him showing his support.

I missed it, but I've got mine on. :)
I saw it as well.
By the way, what's with Bob's Giro commercial - saying Binda had 60 Giro stage wins? I thought it was 41.

Its crazy how many people are wearing the yellow bands. I first started seeing them a month ago up at CSE when Bill Stapleton was wearing one. And then i saw Lance wearing one and now BAM! everyone has one!...lol people ask me all the time what it means.

I noticed Bob Roll was wearing one. I think so was Chris Carmichael. I have mine but have yet to see anyone in (at least in New York) wearing one. Of course people ask me what it is for also. Great product and great idea.

http://store.laf.org/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=43 That should be for the 10 pack
What I'm doing is buying $10 worth and then selling each of them to people for a dollar. And then using that money to go back buy 10 more, and then 10 more, etc.. I suggest you guys give it a try. It's an easy way to buy a lot of them if you just don't have the cash to buy 100 (or 1200).

Picked up one today!
LBS has em, I paid $5 for 2 (I really don't need 10 of em) even tho they are
selling them for $1 a piece.
Other than at LBS I haven't seen anyone wearing em.

A couple weeks ago Craig Kilborn was promoting them on his show.

I'm buying 10 today. Much of the LAF money goes to research done by my professors, so I'm supporting them too. :)

Read what I said, The store is selling them for $1. I paid $5 for 2, my choice. Its a donation
they have em displayed and you put your $ in a jar. . .

I got my 10 and I give them out to friends.
The very first thing I saw when I got to the TREK 100 this past Sat was someone wearing a bracelet in the car next to me as I got out.
Cool!

I think Iban Mayo wore the yellow wristband on the last stage of the Dauphine-Libere. So Lance even managed to persuade his rivals to buy them. :)

I was in Portland Or last month and there was a stall at the airport. I decided to splash out and bought a T shirt - I didn't fancy the wristband idea. The fund-raising seemed to be working well though. Good stuff!
Ed
Al Troutwig had one on as well.....

I think they all have one. Bobke actually got his from "The Man" himself. Told a little story about it the other day. Didn't even have to cough up $1 (though he said he was prepared to) :D
Also, when you buy from the LAF, you get little "WearYellow" postcards you can distribute...

Yep, I have 10 postcards as well. That is the nice thing about getting them from the LAF.

Actually, Bob mentioned that Lance had noticed that he (Bob) wasn't wearing one so he reached in his rear jersey pocket and gave him one. You could tell by his face how excited he was. Great cause. We fully support him here in Indianapolis! L6

Everyone knows someone with Cancer
BTW, have you guys seen Mayo's glasses this year? They look like Orange Tortise Shell Oakley Racing Jackets, with clear lenses, I love the guy, but those have to go.........
Filippo Pozzato (Fassa Bortolo) winner of stage 7 is wearing one.
And so am I.

Hell I wear two.
Closest I'm gonna get to emulating the real cyclists in the tour... :)
So does Thor Hushovd, winner of stage 8
I ordered 10 the other day but found out later that I screwed up and bought the youth size. I'm going to have to find some kids to give them to. I guess the donation is more important than wearing the band anyway but just in case I just ordered another ten in the adult size.

I picked up 7 when I was at the Nike store on 57th in NYC. I wear mine 24/7 and my wife wears hers all the time too. My boys would wear theirs but their wrists are still too small for even the junior-sized ones!:) I even bought a Livestrong shirt. They only had XLs left on the shelves and in the back so I asked them to take off one from the mannequins as they were wearing larges. I read somewhere (I think on Sheryl Crow's website) that Nike is/was asking a lot of the people they sponsor if they'd support the cause too and a lot of them are agreeing. Also read that NIke had 6 million made, 1 million they gave away and 5 million they had already sold ( At the time of the article). Planning on making more I think. Like someone said earlier, we all know someone who has cancer or has suffered from it.
On a side note, I was at a local fair being held by my township and I was looking at the Red Cross tabel when I noticed the Red Cross lady had a band on as well. I showed her I had one too and we got to talking. She said she was so suppportive of Lance and that she had read 2 of his books. She also loves to ride her mountain bike and told me that she's even fallen about 6 times in the last month or so. Cool thing about it though? She's 80!!!!
