Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

There was an article in the Winston Salem Journal (http://www.journalnow.com) this morning that said the cities transportation engineers are actually talking to the League of American Cyclists about turning us into a "bicycle friendly" city. IMHO there's a lot of work to do but this is a good start.

Awsome. I live over in Boone and a lot of the driver's don't think that we are even alowed on the road. Hopefully this will have a ripple affect. Hope it works.

I really hope this will inspire the city of Greensboro to do something similar. I'd love to be commuting to work, but riding on Wendover during rush hour is just suicidal..! We need a good bike route other than the "Battleground Loop".

I commute from Winston to Greensboro regularly but I've found a route with back roads the whole way so I don't get down town often. The times I have are pretty scary though. I don't think I would brave Wendover either.

"theres a lot of work to do"

You are correct. Here's the letter that the WSJ ran that someone wrote in response to that article:

WSJ letter (http://www.journalnow.com/servlet/Satellite?pagename=WSJ%2FMGArticle%2FWSJ_ColumnistArticle&c=MGArticle&cid=1031775894003&path=!opinion!letters&s=1037645509190)

I want to respond, but why???
