Mountain Biking - Ultra Hi Rise

I gave that old GT to my father-in-law, but the thing was made back when long and low was the norm. It really did feel like an awkward bike. We were walking to his barn the other day and I saw an old '71 Suzuki dirt bike laying there and told him he should put those bars on it. I didn't think he'd take me serious.

:roflmao2: That's Awesome!! Have you tried to ride it yet with those bars, if so how did it handle? You never know it could start a new trend in MTN biking.

Excellent! I used to straighten bent bars out of the dumpster at the M/C shop I worked at as a teen - - they went on my Stingrays. Later, my Schwinn 3-speed in college got a similar set, as did my first yard sale Murray 'mountain bike.' MX bars rock! :lol:

I got this from a local shop a few months ago, which is the highest rise MTB handle bar I've come across. It was on 'special' at a price I couldn't refuse... it just sat on their display for too long and they wanted to get rid of it.

I assume it was designed for really tall riders over 6ft, not really sure if these are rare or not. It has about 4 inches rise and is 26" (660mm) wide. I just posted it for reference... might benefit someone who's searching for such a thing.

There is a trail about 40 minutes from him down in SE KS called Farlington (Crawford County). They do a Midwest FatTire series race there. It's kinda rocky like Perry but no hills like LRT. I rode there with him once and he liked it. Maybe next wknd we can hit it up.

Keep him off that monster gap double. Moto bars instill daring thoughts.

He's an older Phart than you, Doug...I think the only daring thought it will instill is that he can keep his back straight and have proper "Miss Manners" seated posture...(pinky out)
