Road Bike Racing - Lance Cronicles: Man in Black?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I think this was in last week's edition of The Lance Cronicles ... did anyone notice that Lance was sporting an entirely black kit on his training ride? I think he's trying to condition himself to the heat given last year's dehydration, and subsequent ITT losss to Jan.
Thoughts?
I noticed that as well, and you may be correct. It's the only thing I can think of.

Yeah, or maybe he just thinks the chicks dig it.
Or maybe while in Ca. he didn't want to be recognized for his USPS kit.
that was my initial take on it. Didn't think of the heat thing, would all
black (new zealand?) be all that much warmer than the all navy blue USPS kit?

Actually, research shows that wearing black reduces the core body temperature although it raises skin temperature. But the core temp is much more important that skin temps.
I could have my gf explain it to me again (shes a Bio major) but I dont need to know the physiological properties at work, only that its true.

Get her on here, I'd like to hear this. If someone has heatstroke on the group ride sunday, we're not going to dress them in black and sit them in the sun.
Maybe he was trying to lose weight, like that kid with the plastic suit in the movie "Vision Quest"

I'm betting it's for anonymity. That and he likes black. Ever notice what color of shoes he wears all the time when not on a TT? He doesn't need to worry about cars running over him either with Chris in the car behind him....
