Another weekend, two more days of rainy crits.
Who's in?
Anyone know what the Sheboygan course is?

Sheboygan is in Evergreen Park. narrow - twisty through the pine trees. Huh? Do I have video? Absolutely: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ADDV8QHLP-M

Oh yeah, that course. That's one of the more serious hills I've seen on the Wisconsin crit circuit. That hill hurt last year. I lost the lead group on it. I hope my threshold is in better shape this year.

looks pretty crappy for both days.... Saturday especially... 80% chance of T-storms...
Sunday might be better "only" 50% chance
Darn Wisconsin weather... we'll see... if it's a light rain maybe I'll race.

Props to Frunkin and Recursive for representing BF in the 3's race, and double props to Frunkin for also riding the 1/2/3 as the temps dropped to 44F !!

I raced the 4/5s....sopping wet... my shoes feel like they weigh 5 pounds each. Put in a stupid attack up at the bottom of the hill and took a flyer for 1 1/4 laps....and that was all she wrote. No gusto left when I got caught climbing the hill again. And to think I told myself I was just going to sit in and build confidence in rainy pack handling abilities (since last year's rain crashfest at Waukesha). Ah well there's always tomorrow or next weekend! Live, learn and then win (or come closer)

Have I gotten a picture of you in past races yet? If so, point yourself out. There were a number of Team Extreme riders there today, but I don't even know what race I showed up during since I didn't have a flyer. I'll be in Sheboygan, look for the fat old guy with a backpack taking pictures, probably in a big red rain jacket, introduce yourself. :)
Man, I'm still shivering, and I didn't even ride!

We talked briefly last year in Waukesha during Superweek... :innocent:
I'll look through some stuff on your site to check for anything from last year. I was the only Team Extreme rider in the Cat 4/5s today. We had about 11 or 12 in the Masters 4/5 and three in the Masters 3/4. I was mostly tailgunning today until I attacked and took a flyer for 1 1/4 laps....not the most camera friendly position for most of the race

That was hard.
I got dropped 50 minutes in to the P123 race.
Hopefully tomorrow goes better.

Frunkin, I guess you didn't get me at the line after all. 6th for me. That sounds better than it is. There were only 17 starters in the 3 race.
Tim P attacked every lap. I wonder what his threshold is.

Yeah he was definitely marked. I worked a little too much, and started the sprint in the wrong place. Tomorrow should be better.

Just rolled in from Sheboygan. Plenty of rain to satisfy the Cat. 3 rule that it must rain for every race.
Props to the BF Boys: Speedster22, Recursive, and Frunkin for some great performances. I'm sure they will share their war stories as soon as their teeth stop chattering and they do have some stories to tell!
A few pix shortly.

2nd in the 3's. Lapped the field with the guy that won yesterday and last weekend. He should probably upgrade soon and let me win once. I did the P123 and raced against Cole House, and Tristan Schouten, one a BMC rider who won a big U23 race in Belgium this year, the other was on the USA Worlds cyclocross team. I got dropped 3 laps in. All in all a good day.

Such modesty. :innocent:
I didn't know that Cole House was in there, and I don't know who that BMC rider was. Will have to look into THAT! What a quality field for such a small race in the park. Chicago's got nothing on Wisco! You earned bragging rights today and will get the props you deserve on my webpage shortly.

Edit: Thanks Psimet for the picture order that just came through. ;)

Sheboygan was fun. I liked it. Took the "field" sprint for 5th. As one of the officials said, "it's another Belgian sunshine day." Breakaway went early coming into the third lap and the field did not work together to pull them back. Myself and a junior from Alterra essentially pulled the small field around the entire course with the exception of a couple laps. Can't really complain 'cuz I won a BRAT! It's not Sheboygan without a bratwurst!

I got DFL at Sheboygan, which is still 7th. :)
Somehow, I'm not disappointed though.

Ah, so the BMC rider was Cole House (guy in white jacket pulling through the big puddle in the pic above). He pulled a lot in that race and easily won. Second place in the Pro 1/2/3 was David Kay (Great Dane) who didn't make the four man brake but kept at it and kept at it, finally bridging with a few laps to go. Son of a gun if he didn't get second place! Boy, some real good riders coming out of the midwest these days: Cole House (Oneida), Bjorn Selander (Hudson), and Frunkin! (Appleton) (and probably the only time you'll read all those names together in the same sentence. :p ) John Aker (Wheel and Sprocket) who was DFL actually won that race last year and that shows just how tough a field it was to ride with, especially after already doing a race before. :)
