Texas - Muenster Germanfest ----roll call

Okay you north Texas folks...who is in?

Last October, I rode with some of the Ardmore Cycling Club and they highly recommended Muenster ride. Unfortunately, we have family stuff going all weekend, so I won't be able to make it.:(

I'm going.

Got another ride planned, so won't be there.

I'll be there with two other friends.

Nah. Maybe next year when my son is away at college I'll have more time for gallivanting.

I did the 100k and it was pretty rough. Lots of hills and plenty of wind. It was well run plus they give out two beer tickets to the German fest.

We did the 65k on our new (to us) tandem. It was Mrs. Mono's longest ride to date.

Did anybody see or know what happened at the 10mile +/- area that caused all the emergency vehicles? I had one guy tell me later that two tires touched and it threw one rider and bike into the air, as when a front touches a rear tire. I wondered if anyone was seriously hurt.

I talked to one rider that said he saw the guy that was hurt. I was told that the whole left side of his head was gouged out pretty bad. The guy I was talking to said he couldn't figure out how his head could have been cut that bad while wearing a helmet. Very unfortunate - hope and pray all involved are healing up well and quickly...

Planned on doing the 100k, but flatted at mile 12 and was having neck and right hamstring problems. So I ended up only doing the 65k, very frustrating day - but I had fun none-the-less! A well run ride - although I think they need a better finishing line. They more than make up for it with the free beer...:)

I went down to do the 65K. My longest ride since getting back on the bike at about 2 months ago.

I bonked at 32 miles, and sagged in to the finish.
Great ride, awesome course, but the wind on the first leg, and the hills after the break from the 100K route.

I agree, they do need to better mark and support the finish line. It almost seemed as if the little banner was an afterthought.

My wife sat at the finish for quite a while, photographing riders as they finished. If you will send me what jersey/bike you were on, I will see if we have a pic, and send it to you.

Oh man... you made it to 32 - that's when the ride got easy. You did all the hard stuff. The big hill at mile 30 was a kick, but once you made it to the last rest stop it was a short east run and then a big tail wind for the final 5mi. 25+ mph average on the way in made me feel like a real guy...:D

Oh and there was a banner? I haven't known where the finish is for the last two years.

We were blue jerseys....orange tandem.

I did the 100k on my track bike. It turned out to be real nice day. Didn't set any speed records cause I was with a friend who had never tried a ride that long before. He was getting kind of discouraged by the wind once we turned south on 373 for the haul back to town. I hope he gets out and tries another.

Maybe next year for me. This was one I would have liked to do, but I committed to helping at Special Olympics @ UTA--very rewarding. I also heard that there was a S.O. bicycle event needing assistance, but I didn't get to see it.
