So, im in the market for a new bike, and my dad saw this at a local store, regular $2200(CAD), but he can get it for $999.

Im looking for an all around kind of bike, something durable, so what do you guys think? should i get it?

Also, would it be possible to get an entry level DJ/FR for about the same amount of money? if so, what are they?

Pretty average for 999$...

I am guessing you saw it at sportcheck. Their MSRP is signifigantly off. The bike is worth on 1100 tops and sportcheck does an auto increase on retail costs and the automatically creates a sale price. Kind of deceitful. (I used to work there so I actually know from experience)

P2 or p3 is in that range. Kona scrap and stuff are there as well. All 4 bikes are signifigantly more suited to that type of riding over the warrior. And they will come from a REAL bike shop and not a sports superstore :)

I don't know about the prices and all that stuff but I agree that the P series from specialized is much more suited to DJ/FR/Urban than the warrior.

**EDIT: this is to the guy 2 posts up**

haha.. thats one of the first things i said when he showed me, "i want the benefits of getting it from my LBS"

another bike i was looking at was the Giant STP2 or STP3, which are around the same price.

any other suggestions?

New bike. Besides being similar in geometry this is giants first attempt at street/djing type bikes. That alone would stop me as i don't buy things in their first year of production. However, it is similar and 'should' be in the same range.

I have considered trying to find one for myself. But I plan to wait till next year :)

In the 1000$ price range for a 'dj' style bike. Not really. You can try and find the Oryx DD series. I don't know prices but they might be cheap.

not a GREAT one..but one that will grow with you. The scrap and stuff you should be able to find under 1000$...the p1 is like 950 and the p2 is 1100...

so yeah it is possible

I am canadian ;)...if I talk other currencies I would put the appropriate currency. Since this kids canadian I figure I would speak in our currency :)

Still 700$ is damn cheap. With our currently strong dollar thats 956...damn thats cheap.

The Kona Shred is 800CAN and the Scrap is 950CAN. So yes. You can get an entry level DJ'er for less then 1000CAN.

The frames are decent and you can up grade the parts as you brake them;)
