Commuting - Home made helmet cam video

I did a lot of research last week looking for a good helmet cam. unfortunately the best one was over $300, so I decided to attach my inexpensive flip ultra camera to my helmet using Velcro tape. It holds on pretty strongly, so not worried about it falling off. The best thing is the audio quality is very good so I can speak license plate numbers into it. But with the video quality I can probably make out around 30% of all plates. The only downside compared to other cameras is that is not waterproof.

Don't mean to hijack, but I fashioned a mount for a Canon digital camera from a reflector bracket (that fit the handlebars) and a screw that happened to fit the threads on the bottom of the camera.

That's pretty cool, way to go. looks a bit bulky but the video is pretty stable.

Good video quality, much better than the Oregon Scientific cameras. Too bad it's a bad shape and not waterproof.

The camera itself weighs nothing, it's just plastic. All the weight is the batteries. Even the expensive helmet cams seem to also use two AA batteries.

My VholdR uses a cell phone battery. It weighs nothing and works for 2 hours. If you use regular AA batteries, buy some Lithium AA batteries as they weigh much less than alkalines.
