Is this a bit nuts? The MAFAC racer brakes work fine. Mud issues? Maybe cantis will fit?

I have a Bridgestone 400 currently set up as a SS CX with some centerpulls. It works very well off road. I have 32mm tires on it with room to spare.

You can do it. Mud probably will be an issue but it's been done many times before.

i have an 80's schwinn setup as a SS cross bike. running 38's for street use currently. mud is an issue- but for real cross im going back to 32's. i also use the mafac racer brakes. they work quite well, just not a whole lot of mud clearance from them.
