Here's a little group ride humor I thought you all would enjoy.
Earlier today I led an Audi Best Buddies Challenge (http://www.hcchallenge.org) training ride from San Francisco around Tiburon (in case you haven't heard, The Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hearst Castle event is a charity ride from Carmel to the Hearst Castle in San Simeon on Sept. 12). Last night a guy emailed me to RSVP to join our ride. He said he would be riding a red BMW, but I assumed he meant to type BMC not BMW. This guy wasn't a registered rider for our event so I was pretty eager to meet him and hopefully get him to sign up for our event.
Well, it turns out that he definitely meant red BMW. Ten minutes after the scheduled start of the group ride I got a call from the guy saying that he was at the intersection, but didn't see me. I assured him I was there waiting and began to look around... sure enough, I see him on the other side of the intersection sitting next to a red BMW motorcycle! I'm still a little perplexed how he concluded that our "training ride" was for motorcycles. He told me that he found out about our training ride from a Google search for "April 25 Group Ride" and a recent blog posting about our training ride came up in his search results (bestbuddieschallenge.blogspot.com (http://www.bestbuddieschallenge.blogspot.com)). Clearly he didn't notice slide show of cycling pictures or other references to bicycle riding on our blog. Ha. Needless to say, the guy was a pretty embarrassed by the whole situation. It gave our group a good laugh! Poor guy.
Speaking of group rides, I lead at least one Audi Best Buddies Challenge training ride in the Bay Area per month. If anyone would like to join our training group please let me know. All riders are welcome to join us.
