I have to replace a Currie 24V DC / 2A 60W XLR charger. Any cost effective suggestions? It is hard to find them locally and the only guy that can offer any help wants to charge $130 canadian (which I think is rediculous) Will a 1.5, 1.6 or 1.8amp charger work just as well? What is the difference between 2amp and 1.6amp?

I am in Waterloo Ontario.

Thanks

The more amps, the quicker your battery charges. So a 1.8amp charger is 10% slower than a 2amp charger and a 1.6amp charger is 20% slower.

I assume you are referring to chargers that are all designed for a 24V lead acid pack. The intended chemistry must match your battery, and the intended voltage must match your battery. There's no risk to going with a LOWER number of amps and a higher number of amps is probably okay too, within reason.

Thanks for the info. That helps. Now if anyone has any suggestions for a replacement and where to get it would be also helpful. It is for a 24v lead acid pack.

Waterloo has quite a large electronics community due to Research in Motion. Are you sure you can't find a local supplier that will sell you one?

XLR connectors are quite common on professional microphones. Any place that sells a good selection of audio connectors should have them. Try a music shop or an industrial electronics supplier.

Here's digikey numbers, digikey has a reputation of shipping you the part overnight, they will seldom let you down:
