it's a red womens bike that was bought new in 85 and ridden 3 times, and has sat ever since. the paint isn't even worn off of the cogs yet, and the little rubber nipples are still on the (highly dryrotted) original tires.
i got it for $25, does that sound reasonable?
i put new tubes, tires, and brake pads on it for $30. i lubed the brake and shifter cables and i'm getting a new chain for it after i paint it.

Many around here would not put this much money into a Roadmaster. But if you like it, that does not matter.

i realize that, but $55 for a *slightly heavy* antique is better than $100 for a *very heavy* dual-suspension wal-mart mountain bike, right?
anyway, my girlfriend likes it, so it's all good.

In the mid80s roadmaster had one tiawan contract with giant I think. They produced a decent lugged 1020 that made you think they were headed for better bikes.Nothing fancy but comparable to an entry level schwinn. $25 is a strech but then I just past up $10 for a trek of the same era (I got too many already.
