PLEASE IGNORE IF YOU DON'T LIKE RIDE PICS!!
I live on the Cherry Creek Trail, and most of my "quickie" rides are right out my back door. I can go 30 miles out and back easily with only a couple of street crossings (or up to 100+ miles with just a few more street crossings).
The trail goes south with just a slight up incline - enough that when you come back, you can coast about 18-20 mph, with just a little pedal push now and then.
Here is a trail description for the southeast portion. It won't be too long before it connects from Downtown Denver to Castlewood Canyon State Park, about 40 miles. The only obstacle right now is the Preebles Jumping Field Mouse - on the endangered species list, and they ar waiting for the proper EPA construction permits.
I just did a quick 18 miles this pm.
