I myself plan on not only stopping at one of the bike stations but doing the actual ride into the city this year, as this is the first year that it is practical for me to do so.

what are everyone else's plans?

As always, I take the day off, and join in the local noon time festivities.

I bike into a small town from a rural area. Nobody here has even ever heard of bike to work day, and there are no other regular riders out of the 650 people in our facility - one or two others ride a dozen times a year or so. If I rode 20 miles past work into Ann Arbor, there might be one or two things in parking lots, but that would triple my mileage.

I'll do the same thing I have every bike-to-work day for the last 5 years, and the same thing I do every day. Bike to work.

So when is bike to work day? I mean for everyone else?

Ours is in June I think.
I plan on forgetting that it is bike to work day, waking up late that day, riding to work wondering why there is around 500 riders that I am passing, riding past the free food, changing to an all street route, and finally remembering what is going on but still not having any time to participate. Just like the last three years.

I don't need to be congratulated for biking to work, so I'll skip the tables, breakfast stations, free t-shirt give-aways etc. But if it gets other people out and riding, then more power to 'em.

I think our bike to work day/week is at the end of May or in June. Although I've yet to hear anything on it.
Anyways, I work from home, so officially I don't commute to work, I just commute for everything else, however I don't think this area does anything special other than promote bike to work.
I never hear much about freebies here.

BTW day is may 15th in Baltimore. I wish the rallies were earlier so I could attend, I have to be in by 7am and the rally starts at 7am.

I plan to commute as I do 2 days a week, 18 miles there, 18 miles back.

I'm riding from my garage to my front door, taking the bike down to the garage, put it back on my car rack, then walking back upstairs to work.

After work, I'll have to bring the bike back upstairs, ride it down around the house to the garage and put it back on the car rack.

Most likely drive to work. Stinkin' amateur hour.

Though I guess it is good they are on their bikes, many think they are still in their car. I about ran into some fool talking on his cell while riding his bike on last weeks Earth Day.

Odd how they can't differentiate between bike to work and car to work.

I can see it now, "Hey, where's 'back-up' on this thing?"

Me, I'll be cycling to the free breakfast. Normally I'd be at work by the time breakfast starts at 7am, lucky for me it is held on Friday and I cycle to work 4 10's M-Th, Unfortunately one of the few regular bike commuters from this area and the most pleasant biker I knew will no longer be attending since he passed away since last year's event.

I'll probably, ya know, bike to school. But I might convince my roadie/triathlete friend to ride with me to work for once, as it's "too far with a backpack". It's 3 miles!

At the rate I've seen the bikes increasing on the racks, parking for 25 bikes might be enough come May. That'll be the day. I really want to know what the school admins will say if they have to install more racks. They already had to 2 years ago.

I seriously doubt there are any stations set up on my commuting route. If their were, the folks setting them up probably haven't even rolled out of bed by the time I get to work which is 5:45 AM, giver take a few minutes.

In Toronto or the Greater Toronto Area, Bike to Work Day is May 25th....kind of late if you ask me. Anyhow, it is what it is....I will be hosting a bike ride from my school with about 20 students to city hall for breakfast and other activities..and then back to school to finish the day.

I used to commute to work by bike when I lived in the DC area, but now I've moved and I work from home. I'm going to ride over to the BTWD stop near my house and ride to downtown Richmond for fun and in support of the folks who are trying it out.

Bike to Work Day is a pretty big deal in Seattle - there are "welcome" stations set up on a bunch of major commuting routes....businesses hand out energy bars, Starbucks gives away coffee, etc. There's a rally at city hall, etc.

I usually commute on a beater but for BTW day I thought I might commute on one of my "nicer" bikes. Or wear a coat and tie.

On bike to work day around here, the total bicycle commuter count increases from just me to just me.

I think I might ride my bike in. Oh, wait, I do that every day.

I like Sixty Fiver's idea though. How will I know which people on bikes aren't cyclists so I know who to harass with my H2? I feel like this might be an opportunity to show a few people what it feels like :D.

I will, as I do every day, ride my bike into work. But I am only too happy to be joined by more cyclists. Cycling to work is the best kept secret in the world. If other people figure it out- more power to them.

Dang. Sorry I hit a nerve there, Sport. Guess I don't understand whatever gibberish that is supposed to mean. Earth Day was last week, if you are implying that I have a long memory, or something. And as far as the bike to work deal, I am not a professional commuter, though I do commute nearly every day.

You have to take a different mindset for BTW day around here. Either slow down and put up with the interesting riding or get the heck off of the trails and avoid the mayhem. I choose to enjoy it as much as I can being that I generally only encounter a few of the regular riders daily and virtually none in winter. Then when I get sick of the mayhem I exit the CCT and hit the streets for a nice peaceful ride with the cars.

Bike to work week in Boston is fun, there are various free breakfasts and chachki giveaways and meet-up rides into downtown from different neighborhoods. It's worth swinging by City Hall Plaza (which is all of half a mile from work) to pick up a freebie water bottle and some powerbars and sometimes a blinky or something like that.

It's May 15 in Louisville. For the "cause", I'll join a group meeting at Iroquois Park, and break off after about 2 miles to pick up my regular commute route. It'll be a few extra miles but it might be fun to help jam the road for a few minutes. :-)

Yesterday about 11,000 people occupied this road for a few hours running/walking the annual Mini-Marathon (and full marathon). The locals should be really p**sed.

Bike to work and stop by one of the goodie stations on my way in. Then be extra careful to dodge all of the newbie cyclists on the roads while driving my bus. I'll be happy to see them out there but I suspect there will be a lot of unpredictable behavior...

Bike to work, where Bike To Work Day will be resoundingly ignored.

Same here. Ironically I am in a community where the resources for biking to work are incredibly good for almost everyone. Unfortunately very few choose to take advantage of it.
