Road Cycling - moser

Between myself and friends we have purchased
several mosers from Red Rose Imports and have
been rather excited about the bikes. The service is not so exciting...I need to reach
the F Moser company? Anyone out there know how to write to them? email? I need to talk to them about seat posts and other odds and ends. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can look Moser up on the internet. However I am very sure you will not get any real response to your problem. That is why it is best to buy service and products that are easy accessible.

I guess you are looking for the seatpost with the quill style system inside? If so best bet is work with Red Rose as they were the ones whom sold you the items. They are the only ones that may be able to truly help you.

Please let me know more on this.

Actually, a friend has a moser with the expanding seat post. I have a moser pro that does not share that feature. He needs to drop his seat about an inch but it is tapered so if he drops it, there will be a gap that would theoretically allow in moisture. This fellow saved up two years for this bike and the Red Rose folks are making him buy another seat post for $45. This is irritating him to no end, thinking a free replacement post is in order. Ethics, and so forth. I used to be that broke, so I can readily empathize. He has no computer, of course, so I am searching the web as a favor in good faith hoping to come up with an address for Moser. The idea is that they would theoretically be nice folks and send him one. Long story, but that is the truth of it. He is mightily upset, having had great experiences with dealers in his mountain biking community, but now this is a completely different and arrogant animal. I will check out the site you suggested, thanks very much!

First, on the frame. I take it the gap will be on top as it tapers down. Did you think of cutting the seatpost with a hacksaw. All you need is about 2 inches inside for safety. Or whatever you thing appropiate.

As far as the company giving you something free. Why? I run into this all the time. People now with the internet are always wanting free and cheap or threaten to post bad things. This is very nasty and I do not see the point of these people. I hope this are not you intenetions. To try to get something free or else. It is something I encounter here more often than not and early on it surprised me. Just to inform due to this there is a "blacklist" floating around shops with a few names of buyers to beware because of these actions. Bottom line is Moser has to pay for that item. I am just saying this to say it and let others be aware.

Perhaps I do not understand. The part of the post that would need to be moved lower into the frame tapers as it approaches the seat rails. Cutting the post does not solve the problem of having the smaller, or tapered portion of the post enter the frame as the seat is lowered. There is no longer a seal of the post against the frame as it enters the tube. It would work, and could be tightened down, but the problem remains.

Regarding Xavier's other comments: It is the responsibility of the bike shop pros that fit you to the bike, particularly if you are a novice rider, to help ensure the fit was correct. You are buying a frame size and componants that they ESTIMATE will fit you.
Only several good long rides will help the rider decide what needs to be adjusted. If the fit is not correct, seat height, for example, the shop is ethically bound, in my humble opinion, to take responsibility for their choice of posts, and change it to help the bike fit properly. This is not unreasonable. Now if the color of the pedals do not suit the newly purchased jersey, that is something else, indeed.
In this country, we call that service and concern for the enjoyment and health of the rider. We deserve and should expect that standard of care. Forums such as this should, in theory, elevate the expectations of those of us who work very hard for our money, and expect an appropriate return. This is not a negative expectation or comment. It is quite positive...

Good Luck, and down with those folks who INNAPPROPRIATELY bad mouth a service provider.

I would actually like to know how this tale ended. Did he cut the seatpost? Did Moser come through with another seatpost. Did Moser come through with a hack saw? Was anybody blacklisted? Did Moser Fan feel that he gained more credibility when he started calling himself Paul Franke, MD? Did the owner of the bike finally achieve financial security? Please try and update these mysteries when you bring them back.
