General Cycling Discussion - One more then Im done. Mens Saddles.

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

I tend to get sore or bruised downstairs. Can anyone recommend a good saddle? on/off road use.

Brooks B17, or a B17 Narrow if you prefer very narrow saddles. I recently bought a Brooks Pro (racier version), it's so nice I spend ten minutes before a ride putting it on whatever bike I want to ride, I can't stand my old plastic perch anymore.

Everyone's butt is different. I can recommend saddles in terms of quality and features but as far as fit, it would be like picking out underwear for you. You basically need to find one with a profile that matches your sitbones. For offroad use, I would also recommend "clipped sides" to allow you to more easily move back and forth across the saddle. My preferred brand is Selle Italia. They have a pretty wide range of saddles and there's bound to be one that fits.
