I have two sets of old Ambrosio rims. I have a set of Ambrosio Extra Durex that were on my '84 Bianchi and I found a set of Ambrosio Elite at a yard sale (without hubs, spokes, etc.) that I built into wheels for my fixed gear.

As far as I know, they are great. BUT, I haven't done massive miles on them and I really don't know anything. They still make rims...I've seen some guys at the Giro with them.

My LBS built a pair up with American Classic hubs, 32 spokes straight up...they really feel smooth!

I have a pair of Ambrosio Evolution with nearly 2,000 miles on them. Strong and fast. No problems.

Campagnolo reccomends you use Ambrosio rims for their hubs when building wheels if that means anything. Anyway I built a set for a local triathlete and he says they are the best rims he has ever rode. I also have a set of 28 hole rims on closeout if anyone is interested.

Ambrosio are very good rims and may I dare say better and cheaper then Mavic! Torelli also has their rims made by Ambrosio; I have the Master Series, and they now have over 35,000 miles on them and still going strong and looking good.
