I currently have some problems with the Polar USB interface, so I contacted the distributor over here. I was talking to him about upgrades as well and stuff. Firstly, the S725 does not have the i behind, unlike the S720i. The i actually represents the Irda compatible feature of the HRM. Without the i, you are only able to transfer information via the Polar IR interface. However, he did say that the previous models have problems and is not compatible with all IR devices and thus the i do not make too much of a difference. As for the S725, though the i is not mentioned, it is the most advanced in terms of IR capability. It is able to communicate with most of the IR devices, and most virtually means all as there would be few it is unable to communicate with. Furthermore, the previous models would have problem particularly with your IR device on windows xp.
One thing is if you own the Nokia 5140, you will more likely be able to connect to all IR devices because you first send the information via HRM to your mobile and later from your mobile to the computer.
One thing I have been noting, and maybe you should e-mail them regarding enquiries. The S625X, it is a running computer, but also supports cycling functions, which would be cool in my opinion, just that you have to have the speed censor separately. Furthermore, it has a OwnOptimiser, which will indicate whether you have overtrained by running a short test, just pretty much like the OwnIndex. Maybe you should confirm with them, and if it was me, I believe I would rather buy the S625X due to the increased functionality. However, it would lack the temperature and altitude which I do not really use over here.

Thanks Oxologic, this was helpful. I clearly need to be careful before I make a final decision . Will advise the outcome.
