Mountain Biking - New SS conversion. Cantilever options?

Here is my new conversion. Almost done. Just need some canti brakes. I don't wanna cheap out, but don't wanna spend like 80 or so on some pauls, but that would be f'n sweet. Any suggestions. The avids are nice, but I don't really like the looks. Thinking of getting it blasted and powder coated, maybe a funky green, or something bright. Or white. Or a nice blue. Or cream... yeah, cream would look nice. I dunno, but it really needs it.

flatbar, so you could (and should) use v brakes, get some single digits more power less frustration

if you are dead set on cantis the new shories are nice, way stiffer than the old ones so you get more power and better feel, and better at gettin them undone to get ur wheel off, i've got the old ones on my cx bike, and 2 friends just got the new ones and i've ridden em, as for color, you could get the 4s or the 6s the 4s are black i believe, while the 6s are silver

that bar will not impede the use of longpull levers. Want cheap? Go with fr-5 levers and sd-5 v-brakes. You'll save a ton over any decent canti's, and they'd be easier to set up, with better power. But, if you want cant's for retro-appeal, well, tektro makes some knock-offs of the neo-retro/vintage mafacs now. Those will give you more leverage. I run shimano br550s on my tour bike, and while they're fine, i wouldn't want em on the trail. I had some cane creek scx-5s on my old commuter, and they're ok. I think i like the shimanos more. The budget performance canti is the shorty, as others mentioned, but if you don't dig the aesthetic, i understand.

But, really, get some v-brakes. pricepoint has this deal going on:
