If you've been approved for your upgrade, they will send you a sticker in the mail that you'll put on your current license.

How long does it take for the sticker to arrive? I've been upgraded for about a month now and have yet to receive this sticker.

Never got my stickers last year. So I printed out the authorization to ride from the USAC site so I could race the proper race.

I had to mail my license in to get its sticker this year. I think the Cat 2 stickers have a bio-toxin adhesive to prevent anyone from forging an upgrade.

Why would anyone want to subject themselves to that much punishment without deserving it?

This.
I accidentally threw out my sticker I think (or never got it, I don't remember), so I'm just gonna print out the authorization to ride. You only have to print one every three months or something like that, they are good for a while.
Most registrations already know your category anyway because they have the database access.

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Mine has the upgrade official's signature such that it goes over the sticker and the license like a seal. They could probably have Cat 2 stickers on a tape roll at race registration and not lose any.
Part of me certainly misses pwning the 3s in crits. But, a couple P/1/2 crits are right around the corner for me...

I mailed mine in with a SASE and got it back pretty quickly with a new sticker already affixed.
