wasn't this the stage originally scheduled to go over the col de vars & the izoard? thought i
saw something on cyclingnews.com about landslides or avalanches changing the route on this stage.
originally, it shaped up to be an epic stage at the midpoint of the giro.

That 3rd climb will be a monster after 200k.

This stage really suits Bettini. Too bad he retired.

He's reporting (RAI TV)from the back of one of the motorcycles this year. I'm guessing he's enjoying the Giro this year. :)

That last climb is going to be a nice springboard for a strong guy. I'll go for Cunago only because he's getting pressure to do something...since he has sucked so far. That's why he was on the attack today.

I'd love to see one of the GC guys stick a fork in DeLuca on this one. Maybe Menchov or Basso will give it a run.

Rooting for Basso on this one, I don't think Levi or Horner have the legs for it, and are likely saving for the TT at stage 12.

He is so over rated. He got lucky in 2004, done nothing since.

+1 on Basso.
And I see Sastre being right with him.

Due to unforseen circumstances, I have been SO out of it as far as the Giro goes this year. That said, I will also go with Cunego to win the stage. I'm basing this expert scientific prediction on the fact that he's kind of cute....and that I'd be attracted if I were xx years younger. :D

Sounds better than picking Piepoli. :D

I apologize....I'll try and get up to date and make future guesses based on logic! :o

My brother has been in the hospital and doing a bit poorly, and my mind has been somewhere else but on the Giro. Now that he is improving, hopefully I can "velo news" myself back up to date! :)

Welcome back, Suzie! Sorry to hear about your brother, but glad he's improving.

As for Cunego, I've always liked him I have to say. His wunderkind status was impossible to live up to, especially now that he's such an outspoken non-doper. The Italian press is all over him every time he trails a bit on the leaders up a Cat 1. And he attacks when he can. I think his future is still bigger than just a one-day racer (not that a great one-day racer is anything to be ashamed of), and bigger than someone like Valverde, another overhyped racer early on.

No need to apologize, family before cycling, bike forums and glad to hear he is improving. By the way, your boy gave another 1:34 to back to Di Luca, but then again, since he won the stage, everyone gave back time to Di Luca.

Wow! and wow. I just watched the last hour of St. 10 at lunch. Di Luca is the man, I am seriously wondering if he can be caught. He just seems very powerful at the moment. Lance also looked strong.

Di Luca is the man! What a way to win a stage, pure strength. Today was a really telling stage and now I believe the killer when he says he has better form than when he won it. Have to see how he does on stage 16 & 17 but I know he will not go easily. This will be interesting.

Levi did not look confident on that decent of that last climb, man, he had me nervous just watching him.

a lot of people have been doubting Di Luca but his goal is the Giro not the TDF so his fully peaked strength should be higher than those who are trying to win but stay strong enough for the TDF. Also they just had 2 days off so it makes it much easier to keep the lead rather than having to fight that extra day to maintain it.
