Hey i just saw this bike locally and was wondering if anyone had any information on it for me. It is a Nishiki with chrome headtube lugs and chrome suntour dropouts. I didnt know suntour dropouts exist the deraillurs are suntour and diacompe brakes and campy cable guides????? this bike interests me as i have a nishiki maxima with campy droputs that i love. That is all the info i have so if some one could give me some history and a value of frameset as shown i would appreciate it.

Frameset values are limited unless you happen to have ready access to the parts needed to complete the bike. Given the nice chrome lugs, I would start looking for a donor bike to complete it.

What grade/model are the Suntour components? What is the material of construction of the frame?

Find the serial number on the bottom of the bottom bracket, and do a search for the Nishiki serial number thread. You will find a lot of info there.

looks like it could be a Pro from the '70s. Pretty nice, and it was top-of-line back then, but workmanship wasn't quite as good as later nishikis.Value? hard to say, I have seen a very good example of one go for about $300 to a collector in the SF Bay Area, that might not be a good gauge of value for you: it was a high-cost neighborhood and eagar buyer. And was a complete bike, not just a frame.

Yea i hope that was in prestine condition for that much. Does anyone have picture of a pro with chrome lugs or any nishiki with chrome lugs really. I just want to know what it looked like and any other info on it. Thanks guys

Hah, I think that green "nice one" IS the one I saw Mr. Ross purchase at a Bay Area swap...I could be off about the price, but I think it was offered for about 3 bills, maybe Dave got it for a bit less (?) or perhaps he was selling it.

This one doesn't have chrome lugs, but my wife's late '70s Nishiki Pro is a much better bike.

YEA I THINK THATS A LITTLE SILLY IF IT WAS BEING OFFERED FOR $50 I WOULDNT HAVE POSTED IT HERE I WOULD HAVE JUST BOUGHT IT

GEEZ THAT GREEN ONE MAKES ME WANT TO BUY THE BLACK ONE IM LOOKING AT! THATS SOO NICE! i DONT KNOW HOW GOOD OF CONDITION IT IS BUT HE WANTS LIKE 200 FOR THE FRAMESET WHICH I THINK IS WAY HIGH FOR THIS UNLESS ITS PERFECT WHICH IT DOESNT APPEAR TO BE.

WHAT TO DO WHAT TO DO........ sorry for caps!

+1 I am with Jim on this one, $50, maybe $75 max, if you happen to have enough parts on hand to complete it.

It would be a nice bike when you are done, but if you had to buy all of the components to complete, the bike would not make any sense financially.

I like to keep a donor or two on hand for such a project.

my market is hot enough that even a hundred for that would be okay. if that popped up on the local cl i'd be all over it.
