Up for sale is my beloved 2008 TREK Madone 5.1, 54cm frame size. The only reason I would even consider parting with this bike is because I found a very good deal on another Madone, and I bought a 6.5 Pro, so I cant justify keeping this one. It is a beautiful Onyx Black (Exposed carbon), with Yellow and Silver accents. I still think this was one of the most subtle, and visually appealing color schemes in the 2008 line. It is a compact Ultegra drivetrain, which performs very well. OCLV carbon frame, hand made in the USA.
It is the performance fit frame geometry, with the 30MM taller head tube. It is a very comfortable riding bike, while still being very stiff and a great performer. I purchased the bike almost exactly one year ago. It has approximately 2,000 miles on it, with the exception of upgraded and replaced components as described below. It has been ridden by an adult recreational rider, never crashed, never raced. Everything is in exceptional condition. There is a slight cosmetic scuff on the face of the rear derailler. When I bought it, there was a small cosmetic chip in the clear coat on the downtube near the BB, about 1/8 square, which has been repaired, and I cant get it to show up on a photo. The bike weighed about 18 ½ lbs. stock. With the upgraded configuration, it now weighs about 17.25 lbs.

Upgrades from Stock
Wheelset Was originally equipped with Bontrager Race wheelset. These base level wheels have been replaced with a set of very lightly used 2003 Bontrager Race X Lite Wheels, which came on my Seven Axiom bike, purchased as a demo. These stiff, light wheels transformed the bike, accounting for almost a full pound of weight reduction. They have DT Swiss hubs, and Bontager titanium skewers. If you find it interesting, these wheels are the rare 2003 model, with the milled spoke beds, which prompted legal action from Mavic, as they felt they had rights to that technology. A collectors item of sorts.
Tires Original Bontrager tires replaced with Continental GP4000 tires (yellow). Tires on the bike have about 500 miles on them, and I will include another brand new set, still in the boxes.
Saddle Bontrager Race Lux Basic saddle replaced with Terry Fly Ti Saddle lighter, more comfortable, better looking.
Handebars Bontrager bars replaced with Ritchey WCS Logic Anatomic aluminum bars- My Seven had these bars, and I really like them, so I put some on this bike. Never ridden. Brand new yellow Cinelli cork tape.
MSRP of the 2009 model of this bike is $3,569.00 . A similar bike with no upgrades sold for $2,700 couple of weeks ago. With all the upgraded and replaced components, I am asking $2,450 for this beautiful bike. I have gotten estimates from the LBS on professional packing and insured shipping, and that would cost approx. $125 - $150, depending on distance. U.S. Buyers and U.S. Shipping only.
