i picked these cranks up from a local bike "scrapyard" and was wondering if anyone knew what they are. any info whatsoever would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

I need to activate the Cyrillic alphabet on my computer, Magna Man of New York! Elsewhere in this forum, did you check out the thread on the Sputnik bicycle?

You may be able to narrow down the manufacturer if the spider has an unusual BCD. Measure the distance between adjacent holes, center-to-center, then refer to Sheldon's website (glossary: BCD) for the simple geometric conversion factor. A BCD of 122mm would indicate Stronglight; 128mm, Nervar; 135mm, Campag.; 130mm, anything (sorry).

Hi there, xwarp. These look like Cook Brothers RSR cranks, 110 BCD. I'm not sure whether Cook Brothers made a road version or the spider is a modified triple. I believe they were made in 171mm, 176mm and 181mm. Nice find.

On closer inspection I would think Ishy nailed the BCD at 110 so that would rule out road cranks. They still LOOK like Toplines tho'. Came in 170mm to 180mm in 2.5 mm increments. One version (superlight) "has additional mill work performed to the arms to reduce weight". But the pictures I have don't show said mill work. So ????

:o Actually, I think you are correct in that they are Topline cranks. I've never seen Topline cranks in person (although I have seen the Cook Brothers), but I managed to find this link:

It mentions the BCD is 130mm and if you look very closely, you can (just barely) see the fluting on the sides of the crank.

I wonder whether or not they also did the machining for the Cook Brothers cranks, since they look nearly identical. But the spider really does look like the Topline shown in the link.
