"The 33"-Road Bike Racing - Eugene Oregon Racing Teams?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
Did a quick search without much luck...
I'm moving to Eugene in August, and since I know no one there, and like to race, should probably try to join a team to race road and cross. Are any of you guys from the area, or have an idea of what shops/teams a cat 4 road racer who doesn't mind working with others for the greater team good should be talking to? Luckily, I'll get there with a little time to practice some cyclocross skills before that season starts, though I'm pretty new to it.
Thanks in advance.
Check out www.obra.org, I think they have a team list. The only teams that come to mind that are from Eugene are Paul's Bicycle Way of Life and Hutch's. Team Oregon is also a good team that has riders from Eugene, I believe. PM obra3, he could probably give you more suggestions.
Welcome to Oregon, by the way.

Yep- cmh has got it.
Are you going to UO? If so, there's a UO Cycling Team. Team Oregon (my team) has a Eugene contingent. Paul's, Hutch's and Midtown Direct are also down there.
I'll be working at UO, but unfortunately, after 9 years of college, I won't be a student anymore.
Thanks for your input guys, I just signed up for the OBRA mailing lists. It looks like there are at least a few teams to check out, and hopefully some riders getting out regularly who wouldn't mind showing me around in exchange for coffee/beer/pizza.

Welcome to Oregon! Great racing here in OBRA land, and I know that Eugene has some great teams.

Anyone for input for Corvallis? I think that is where I will end up. Probably same advice, eh??

Check out Pacific Power Blue Sky (http://www.willamettevalleycycling.com/). If you are going to OSU, they have a cycling team as well. There might be others, but Corvallis isn't the largest of towns if you take away the university.

GWChem and Dr. O-D,
I'm racing for Team Oregon as well, in the P/1/2. Well, I will be, whenever the next team clothing order comes in...
I met the guys on the team when I went to watch the crit stage of The Cherry Blossom Stage Race in early April (bit of a misnomer as the cherry trees came into bloom last week...) out in The Dalles, OR, which is ~80mi east of Portland, on the Columbia. I made small talk with anyone who would listen, and the only people who were genuinely friendly and helpful were the Cat 3 guys from Team O. Then, one of the Cat 2 guys pulled out of the race, and I got to talking with him as well. Cool dude. Eventually, I learned that they were staying in my new home town (Hood River...home of the Mt. Hood Cycling Classic), so I hung out with them that night as well. I liked what I saw and heard, and I signed up with them a couple days later.
They're an extremely well organized team, do very well in OBRA races, and seem like they have a lot of potential for growth.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought faculty members can still race. I know there are no age limits, might be worth checking into.
