I've got a set of Mavic Cosmos wheels, about 8 months old, and I just noticed that the rolled flange on one of the spoke hole eyelets popped off and is now sliding up and down the spoke (rear wheel).

Does anybody know what causes this?
Can the eyelet be replaced?
Is it OK just to just to cut the flange off the spoke since the rest of the eyelet is still in the rim?

Thanks.

Bob

do you mean the nipples that hold the hubs to the rim?

Eight months? Take it to your dealer right away. You will probably have to go without for a couple of days but they should send it back to Mavic for repair(Probably a new rim) If you are in a hurry get it shipped as fast as you can afford, Mavic ships back the way it came in, Next day = Next day

Not the spoke nipple. The holes in these rims are reinforced with an eyelet (or ferrule) that helps distribute the load from the nipple. The part of the eyelet under the spoke nipple and through the hole seems to be intact.
