Road Cycling - How much tire pressure can I run with these rims?

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Hello all. I just purchased an old Takara road bike with these alloy Araya 27" rims. Note that the rims say "27X1 1/4 w/o HP". OK, I can figure that would mean "without high pressure", but what exactly would the limit be? The tires on the rims now are 65psi max Kendas, and I'm sure they are the original tires.
I can get some pretty decent modern "high pressure" 27" tires from Nashbar. What do you think the max safe pressure would be if using these rims? By the way, the rims are like new, no wear.
Thanks,
Pat

Pull the tire off of the rim and look at the edge of the rim. On the inside, does the rim have a hooked profile, or does the side just come up straight? If it is hooked, you can use the higher pressure tires. If not, you will likely blow the tire off the rim when you inflate it.

I have some of those exaxt rims but in cromed steel any how I have the old 11/4 tires that were on it when I got it and I've run them at their 80psi max with no problems. 27 tires are getting more rare or I would try an even higher pressure tire. Mine do not have hooks, they have straight sides inside and out.
