Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So, what's on the calendar for you IL / WI folks?
Circuit of Sauk (http://wicycling.org/media/raceFlyers09/Circuit_of_Sauk.pdf) in Reedsburg, WI seems like a must for Saturday. A real road race out in farm land. Then Sunday has three choices: LaCrosse Criterium (http://wicycling.org/media/raceFlyers09/LAX_09_Criterium.pdf), Kenosha ABR Criterium (http://www.ambikerace.com/2009/Flyers/Kenosha_Business_Park_Crit_v52009.pdf), or Vernon Hills Grand Prix (http://www.bikereg.com/events/register.asp?eventid=7693). While Vernon Hills seems like a good one, the LaCrosse Crit. has twice the prize list and I think will have a good draw from the Twin Cities (Flanders, Grand Performance) as well as Madison (GDVC, Brones, Baraboo Sharks). Nice talk about it on the http://bikethrow.com/ podcast (@ min 31). For top Milwaukee/CHicago riders ... ??? Top riders usually go for top money, so it could be Lacrosse and that's what I'm thinking too. Your thoughts?

Circuit of Sauk and Lacrosse for me.

Not sure what I'm doing. I want to do both, but lacrosse is kind of a hike and I have school building up.

I'm crying off this weekend. Was planning to do Circuit of Sauk but I realized that I haven't properly recovered from my wreck at Hillsboro. Need to do lots more aerobic training, can't handle any intense efforts because some muscles/tendons appear to be damaged.
Vernon Hills is just too far, too short and too pricey for me. Not worth doing just 1 crit - better off training.
i'll be at the circuit of sauk saturday.. not racing on sunday.

Nice race reports on the Team Extreme website and now I remember where that shop is ... right off the Ozaukee County Bike Trail! :p :thumb:

Vernon Hills masters 4/5 and 4s...I feel something, it may be a good omen, or I may suck. anyway, I'm really excited to find out.

I went OTB on lap 1. That's what I get for trying to do a hilly RR while fat and slow.
Tomorrow should be nice and flat though, so maybe I will suck less.

Thanks Hip!
We've got some new things in line here at Peloton-Pix ... things you've never dreamed of. Looking to go live with those in the next few weeks. (Recursive .... shhhhhhh!! :innocent: )
It was a tough day ... there were riders strewn all over that course. Great turn out though. I noted riders from Chicago, Rockford, Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, Davenport, Iowa City, Marquette, and Thunder Bay, Ontario!

Say hey to me tomorrow. I'll be there to watch the 5's. I am doing the masters 4/5. i would do the 4 as well but that was pretty $$ with no 2nd race discount.
We should have quite a few bodies out there tomorrow.
Did the ABR TT out of Maple Park today. Did pretty good for me. I turned a 24mph TT to put me tied for 10th out of 39 (only 30 finished I believe) in Cat 4. I knew I was in trouble when I looked down and realized I had been in a 53X11 since the start and the computer said 31mph avg....hmmm...guess that wind will suck when I turn around....
....it did.

Not the quality of John's stuff (I just left the camera at the line) but here are a few shots from Dar's Midwest Time trial in Willard, Wisc. I was dead center of the field: 47/95

You could make a rap music video with that camera.
John, that shot of the pro finish is awesome! I like how they are in line but with their bikes crossed.
I surprised myself on Saturday doing quite well in my first cat 3 race, and by far the longest race I've done as well. I took 6th and beat every cat 3 cross racer's nemesis by less than an inch thanks to my bike throw!
Recursive/Frunkin - did you race in La Crosse today? How was it?

I was really impressed by you yesterday. I got popped 2nd time up that hill.
Today Me and Tim were back to the old routine. Me, Tim, Nick Frye, and a Brones guy attacked on the 2nd lap and ended up lapping the field. I got 4th because I was too far back and had a bad sprint. Nick won, with Tim missing 2nd by inches. I did the P123 after and ended up getting dropped about 30 minutes in, which was decent.

I died in Baraboo. Bad start position. Bad Legs. Bad engine.
La Crosse. Flat and Fast. I died a second time. Leg cramp half way through and pulled the plug.
My suck-0-meter keeps going up and up so far this season. Ugh.

Frunkin gains a lap with three others, then dukes it out in the field sprint. Recursive is again in the money with sixth place.
2's finish on PPix. Still photos later.
Nice course, BEAUTIFUL location  Just a bike throw away from the Mississippi River and right in a park. This was a good one. :)

La Crosse was a great race. I love an urban crit.
Great job with the video. It might be worth looking into getting a helicopter for some overhead views of the finish.

What a great! Glad I made the trip with my teammates from Minneapolis. Raced the 4/5 and the Master 4/5, and almost did the Master 3/4 (my teammate did) but decided I was too tired.
way to go frunkin! did you guys split the work evenly in the break or make tim do all the work? did nick have a leadout train (wondering if that's why his teammate was behind the pack in the video)?
i wish i was there - i would have either been in the break or helping recursive chase. although as a result of not being there, i picked up an older but still sweet specialized allez with a 9sp ultegra group from my dad. haha - no more 8sp cassette/triple/sora brifters... ugh.
p.s. nice video as well john.

We split the work up pretty evenly. I got screwed pulling into the finishing straight on both prime laps. Wheaton had some killer teamwork and really set Nick up well. Garrett pulled for about 3/4 of the last lap with Nick on his wheel.
