Charity Events - The Granite State Quest-A ride to conquer cancer

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

The Granite State Quest - A ride to conquer cancer is a one-day bicycle event in southern New Hampshire to raise funds for pediatric cancer research and patient care at the Massachusetts General Hospital. Over the past six years our riders have raised $585,000. We are pleased that thanks to numerous in kind sponsors such as The Timberland Company, The Exeter Hospital, Gus' International Bike Shop, Papa Wheelies, Mass AV, Dunkin' Donuts and Cysco Foods, 100% of the funds raised have gone directly to cancer research and patient care at MGH. Last year The Granite State Quest was selected as part of Massachusetts General Hospital Cancer Center's first annual tribute to the one hundred. This program recognizes those who have made significant contributions to advancing the fight against cancer and to providing effective, compassionate care.

The registration fee for this year's ride is $50 with fund raising goals of $500 for those riding 50 miles and $1,000 for those riding 100 miles. On line registration is now available at http://www.firstgiving.com/granitestatequest. As with previous years, this year's ride will start and end at The Timberland Company in Stratham NH.

Our commitment is to make the Granite State Quest an annual event, thus providing the opportunity for individuals and families to directly participate in the quest to conquer cancer. For the past six years we have averaged slightly over 40 riders and this year our goal is to increase the number of riders to between 75 and 100.
