I have been thinking about this, and it seems like no matter how it was done, any time the dropouts were adjusted it would mess up the fender alignment. Is this a situation where a person would just have to live with the fact that they would have to adjust the fenders, or does some solution for this already exist?

not sure I see it as that big of a deal. In fact, I would think the adjustments would not be common, and any adjustment needed would be fairly small.

I'm likely overthinking the issue, but I have never dealt with sliding drop outs, so I don't know for sure. I'm only thinking of using them as they seem to offer the best solution to the issue of mounting racks with disc brakes, as well as different drivetrains

I have a minor problem with getting the wheel out with my bike- semi horizontal dropouts. It`s the same issue the guy solved in the VO link. My soultion was a long 5mm bolt through the fender from the inside with a nut jammed against the outside and LocTited in place. Then I use a nut on either side of the CS bridge to hold the whole thing in place, similar to the VO solution, but without the spring and I have to spin one of the nuts towards the fender each time. The biggest problem is finding a long enough bolt with threads all the way to the head.
