I'm a bit confused I'm afraid. I bought a bike off of ebay (trek 1000) and it came with a cyclone precision (I'm guessing crap) crank set. Well I must have stripped out the peddle so I had to buy a replacement. I decided to change out the whole front crank in the process. I bought a shimano sora triple and at this moment I am outside trying with all that I am to get the old one off. Is there a trick? Am I doing something wrong? I removed the screw that was holding both in place and no matter how hard I try I can't remove the actual cranks. Any tips to doing this would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Justin

The easiest thing would be to get a crank puller, like this (http://www.parktool.com/tools/CCP_2.shtml). Cranks can be a pain to remove even with a puller, without one, I'm sure its nearly impossible.

thanks for the input...do you know if major stores carry this or would I have to find a speciality store?

You could probably find one at most bike shops. Alternatively, you could take your bike to the shop and have them remove the crank for you.

I just bought the one in that link at Performance about an hour ago for $13.00.
