Foo - You are a sick cycling puppy when?

1- You come out of orthopedic surgery and while drugged, ask the nurse when you can ride.2- your yard catches on fire due to tall grass, but you have to complete the ride. 3- Your cycle buddy is past due on his business' rent, but he still takes the day off to ride.
Any other personal experiences.

You go out for about 37 miles, then come back to all the relatives on a holiday weekend and immediately want to go out again. . .

You go out to start a 10 mile ride and one block into the ride it starts to hail and pour rain but you go the 10 miles forward into the storm rather than the one block back home.

About 8 Christmas' ago, we were having Christmas at our friends home..The cycling friend - who got me into this..Brenda was preparring Christmas dinner..She had to go out and get Calvin...Wanted to get some exercise before we got there.. He was stranded about 10 miles out. Seems like his chain broke.
My wife finished cooking the turkey, while his wife went out to fetch our friend.
I had forgotten about that.

You get a new bike part on Christmas eve, and before opening anything else you install it on your bike and go for a ride...

Actually, once I was brushing my teeth in the morning, and I gagged on the toothpaste and something went out in my back. I was fecked. I couldn't rise from an "L" shaped position. Somehow I got on my bike and rode to work.

The funny thing was, I had no problems with pain on the bike, but as soon as I got off, I was still frozen painfully in the "L" position.

I had a tough time explaining to my boss why I could cycle all the way to work and then couldn't do anything.

I went to the supermarket on my old rainbike ,fitting the pannier bags on the rack to carry the supply's home (only 3ks) . In the supermarket I meet my wife (she has the car) who'd finnished work early & had stopped to buy some asprins on her way home, so anyway we had a cup of coffee to-gether & after going through the check out she wants to put the groceries in her car, I said 'no I'll take them on my bike', when she asks why, I tell her that it makes the whole thing bloody pointless if she takes them home in the car !! On reflection it sounds bloody stupid.

Greywolf..It makes for a heavier load, more resistance..Makes you stronger. Makes sense to me...
How about when your eyes dialate, just when you see a car roof rack and you wonder what kind of bike belongs up there...
I suspect the car type might reflect what kind of bike?

Or since you've dismantled 3 bikes in your bedroom (I like the bedroom, favorite cube, computer, t.v> need a wetbar!)
And your bed\ floor\ dresser\ desk is covered with a zillion parts laid out in groups. You, instead of cleaning and organizing, prepare to sleep on the couch for a few days untill the bikes are done.

I would like to think Bike sickness spreads out to the fairer gender also...Doubt however, the ad showing the girl in bed with the bike and the boyfriend sleeping on the flood could happen; unless it is a Colagno..Then maybe...
I had a $8,000 bike it would never get out of sight.

I had surgery in early march, so of course, I was wondering when I'd be okay for cycling. The season doesn't really begin here until april anyways. WHen I saw the doctor for my postop, I asked when I'd be able to do 'normal' things like ride my bike. She said six weeks from the surgery, which was three weeks later. I never asked about sex. I figure you can have sex any time of the year but not go cycling! THe season begins here in april, so I was able to get out at the end of april.

You slack off on the internet at work until it's super late because "it's cooler out and makes the ride home more enjoyable that traffic is practically nonexistant"

I did that! haha, when I got my wisdom teeth out and I was still semi under, the nurse was leading me to a recovery room with my dad so I could sleep off the anestisia (sp?)...and the first thing I said was, "how long till I can cycle?" heh

Phat..You and I have something in common..Late late June I had shoulder surgery..Torn rotor...Riding my bike was within like three statements I am told...So it was not first but soon after waking up...
I am cranky in such situations...My wife was forewarned..Don't like people around when in such situations...
I would be like the elephant who goes off to die alone...
I said something about pain...'Now thanks everyone get the hell out..' and then, about when can I ride my bike...
Before the injury Had planned to ride across Nevada and that very soon came to mind..So guess it was third I was told...But that is pretty quick?
Pain and crankness comes first.
God, coming to in the surgery center..I was so cold..I was dreaming of the warm Nevada sun, I guess.

Its only 2 miles from the resort to the Blue Ridge Parkway, like you wouldn't do it...

when you....Do a metric century on Saturday morning, rush over to do a Cat 3 Crit on Saturday afternoon, and then do a 30 mile MTB race on Sunday(someone suggested that I just might be obsessed with cycling...)

Say it isn't true..A couple is on a Honeymoon..Beautiful spot like the Blue Ridge Parkway..You take your bike..The spouse does not bike...You forget and do a century..Get back and fall asleep..
Even that would not happen for me...Some activities can devert even the most avid cyclist..

Will not be about the forum for over two weeks...Tonight have to worry about packing, getting the house ready for our return...Soon after getting back we will have company.. Tomorrow while getting the car serviced, figure I will get in 30 miles..
OVer two weeks..All I can think about is how many miles I will not complete..
And we are going to somewhere exciting..
Maachu Piichu, Cuzco, Lake Titicaca,and the Balesteras Islands..A close to shore variation of the Galapagos...
For July I will be lucky to get in 300 miles..Some weeks I do that...
Regret I can't take my hybrid bike even..
Excitement over Maachu Piichu is lessened...by fact no work commute, no coastal rides in the sun. I have always had at least one bike vacation the last 5 years.
Will I still get in one.
