Southern California - Am I forced to buy new??

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

So I live in Azusa. Gateway to Hwy 39 and only minutes from GMR. I love to ride, but have a very difficult time on my bike (see sig) that is a 62 I believe, as it presses against my crotch when I try to straddle it. I've been looking on the local Craigslist and can not seem to find anything close to what I am looking for (maybe mid 90s decent road bike with 105 or 600 parts) for even $400. Do I have to shell out $900 for a decent bike at my LBS? does nobody have a 56 cm road bike to spare for me?
If you have decent parts on your bike now, might consider buying a new frame and just transfer the parts and selling the old frame on CL:

Not really possible: 25mm seatpost, 27 inch wheels, long reach (like 60 something) brakes, stem shifters, threaded hs and quill stem, some weirdo bb threading/crank offset....

56 is the most common size of road bikes. Be patient and more will show up on CL. Just watch it every day and act fast when you find one because they'll sell quick.

I quick search showed a Fuji Finest (if you don't mind Sora)

It's not even worth that, though (imo). If the guy's motivated, you should get it for $350 or less.
Specialized Allez with Ultegra (and 105?) which could also be negotiated.

You can pick up a new Leader frame for less that $200. Both my road bike and TT race bike are Leader frames. I have some old 105 Flightdeck components lying around I've been needing to toss on eBay from when I first started riding 2 years ago. I've upgraded since then to SRAM but you're more than willing to have them if they'll be going to a good home. They are 9 speed though.
I have both front and rear derailleurs, shift/brake levers, front and rear brake calipers, and my FSA Aluminum compact cranks (you'll need an ISIS internal BB). The rear derailleur has some scrapes as does the right shifter from a pileup but everything works fine. Everything is black.

going from a 62 to 56 is a huge jump.. are you sure you need a 56, what is your height and inseam length? Just be patient, make sure to also checkout OC and Inland Empire CL ads.. My last 3 bikes are CL purchases, something always comes up.. Most prices on CL are negotiated down at least 100-200... When a bike is priced very low, email or call fast, they will not last..

I have a frame that may fit you. I ride a 56. I also have an assortment of Dura Ace 9 spd parts. I don't have any wheels I can sell. PM me. I'll take a look through the stuff tomorrow and let you know what you would need besides wheels as well as how much I want for everything. I am in San Dimas, so you could come take a look at everything and tell me if you're interested.

First off, thank you everyone for your help. To those who looked briefly at CL, you know how hard it is to find anything decent that isn't overpriced around here.
As to the sizing, the bike I ride is a 62 because I rescued it on trash day. I'm about 6' tall and if I remember correctly, 33 or 33.5 inch inseam (I wear 30 inseam pants)
