After getting some jammers for pool practice I got to looking into the tri-shorts. Now I'm a student with a limited budget and my 300mile trip to the Georgia coast from Atlanta is going to suck some money down period (mainly cause I'm going by myself and drive a full size truck).

I'm thinking about wearing my jammers for my swim. But on my bicycle leaving my PI mesh biker underwear that goes on the inside of my baggies for my mountain bike on my bicycle at the transition and then just throwing those on over my jammers. Then for hte run I'll take them off again and run in the jammers.

Does anyone think this is a good idea? I'm not worried about appearence either. I could wear pink tights with fairies over it and my fat white body will draw all the attention.

What is the length of the bike leg? Unless you're doing a half-ironman or longer, you should probably just wear your jammers and not worry about the padding.

It's a 12mile bike ride. Not much for most true triathletes but I like to be in the least amount of pain as possible.

I'll probably go for a short bike ride today in my jammers to see how it feels.

I did a short ride and then a short run 10 mile / 2 mile in my PI bike shorts, and was thinking about how tough it would be to swim in those and then do the next two portions, but I think jammers might be a better way even though I don't own any.

Anyone who's completed at least one tri and has plans to do another is a "true triathlete".

Well I haven't done a tri yet. But I was referring to the ones who do olympic+ length triathlons vs a short sprint

I race all the time in non-padded shorts, my Speedo FastSkin. I think jammers would be comparable. Like cj said, its all right up until probably 2-3 hours

Good Luck!

I got some tri-shorts today. Pearl Izumi. They feel a little tight but I'm sure they'll stretch some. I thought about getting a 1piece suit but didn't feel like dumping $140 right there.

I don't have a tri-shirt so I'm probably going to leave a shirt on my bicycle at the staging and throw it on after I swim. And I'll just swim with no shirt on.
