Southern California - Stolen Bike...Please Help

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Hey folks, I got the following e-mail from a friend earlier today. The theft took place in Irvine..please keep an eye out.
Thanks!

------------------------------------------
My 48cm Fetish Lamierina time trial bike with DuraAce (ultegra cranks, speedplays) and a carbon bullhorn time trial setup was stolen from my complex last night.
I attached a photo of the bike from before I made the switch to time trial bars and bar end shifters.
There is an image of the bike in its current form with bar end shifters in this video on youtube about 2min45sec into the video:

Please keep an eye out for this bike or its parts, especially on craigslist, and post it on any bike-related lists in the community. My first Ironman is on June 21st and there isn't a chance in hell that I have the kind of money it takes to replace this bike.

Here's another pic. This one has the current bars on it.http://www.jannuzziclothing.com/fetish2.jpg
Been keeping an eye on the NSD Craigslist since I saw the original post.
I must say that if I locate the bike, I would really think about keeping it if it was my size... That bike is gorgeous!

Thieves suck.
I'll be watching.
"stolen from my complex"
where was it?

Irvine, near UCI. I suspect that the thief will try to sell it in another county...but who knows?
Edit...Dave, you probably meant...Where in the complex (sorry about that). I believe it was on her car on a Yakima Rack that has a locking skewer. I'm pretty sure I have the same rack.
I go to UCI, this makes me glad I use two locks on my bike, though that wouldn't deter a properly equiped thief at 4am and isn't to say this bike wasn't locked. I'm sorry to hear about the loss and I'll be keeping an eye out.

Midnight Ridazz has a link on there for stolen bikes. It will post to everyone in Los Angeles. Also check Arizona CL's. I have heard that a lot of people try to sell there as well. Sorry about your loss.

Yikes - I've got that same rack too. Do you know how they broke the lock? (I may need to do some preventive maintenance.)

roof...good question. She said that she doesn't know how they defeated it...they stole the skewer too. I guess I've never really believed that lock would stop theft as much as make sure the skewer didn't accidentally open while I was driving. Something to keep in mind.

Since I got my new bike, I never let it out of my sight - even when it's on top of the car. Good to know that my paranoia may be justified.

Hey Folks! While I wish I had good news about Michelle getting her bike back...so far, no joy. However, I wanted to share that as I type this, she is competing in her first Ironman in Coeur d'Alene Idaho.
With a huge thanks to the Brand Manager at Felt and some friends with spare parts, Michelle was able to assemble a great tri-bike that will hopefully help her to earn a slot in the World Championships in Kona later this year.
She is #2082 and you can track her progress via the "Athlete Tracker" at www.ironman.com
She has already completed the 2.4 mile swim in 1:09:07 which is 11th in her age group. Think good thoughts for her and send her some good energy.
